Life. Love. Lipstick.

I tend to lean toward simple in the area of wedding-planning, but every once in awhile, I like an extra dose of glamour and romance.  Enter crystals.  Crystals dripping from centerpieces, trees, ceilings… I love the glamour it creates, without being too much.

In the last few years that I’ve followed wedding trends, crystals have always played a part.  However, it used to be just a subtle touch here and there.  I first saw crystals as a wedding must-have probably 4 years ago.  Silver candleabras with crystals dropping from them were all the rage on the knot.  Now, the glimmering strands are hanging from any surface imaginable!  Take a look at what I have come across in just the last month alone.

A few months ago, while browsing around on The Knot, I ran across Wileyswoman‘s bio, and instantly fell in love with the simple elegance of her wedding.  She had lots of wonderful ideas and you should click on her member name above and check out her Martha-esque wedding.

It has become popular in recent years to have a cupcake tree at your wedding,  in lieu of a wedding cake.  Wileyswoman had cupcakes as centerpieces, which I love.  More than that, I love her cake toppers, which is why we’re here!

Wileyswoman got her cupcake toppers (actually called “cake picks”)   from SugarCraft, and they’re the cutest ones I’ve found.

All that said, again, I urge you to check out Wileywoman‘s awesome wedding bio.  I just looked at it for the eleventybillionth time, and it never gets old!

My favorite flowers have always been tulips, peonies, gardenias, and yellow roses. However, I also never wanted a flower-filled wedding. I’m not really into flowers. Enter the spider mum. I discovered spider mums when I saw a bouquet in an uncle’s home. In the middle of the bouquet was a single, white spider mum. I instantly pictured this spiky flower in a bridal bouquet, and soon was thinking of using green ones in reception centerpieces. Of course, I’m not even formally engaged, so this is all a dream.

Anyway, here’s my tribute to this modern and beautiful flower!
